Music workshops

Overview

I offer workshops for all ages and bring a wealth of experience from my multidisciplinary arts background to make my workshops fun and creative. I have developed a child/participant-led practice, which supports people to develop their own musical potential.

Workshop style

I have a store full of violins, violas, cellos, guitars, tuned and untuned percussion.

A typical workshop might be a marquee full of instruments for families to explore together (such as at Bath Festivals Family Arts Day or The Misfits Theatre Company).

I then shape a participant’s improvisations  into group performances.

I also deliver workshops for children, especially Early Years that use combined arts and theatre to support children in their love and exploration of music.

“A unique ability to communicate effortlessly through her music with anyone and everyone, and a genuine love and curiosity for discovering innovative and new ways of sharing music.” Sally Cookson, Theatre Director

“Sarah’s compassionate, non-judgemental and empathetic facilitation supported so many participants to feel seen and heard, acknowledged and affirmed in the belief that being a musician was a possibility in their life.”
Sandra Barefoot, Co-founder, Visible Thinking

“I was very impressed with her commitment to enabling the participants to write their own songs and to perform musical and percussive underscores for each other’s work.” Peter Cooper,  Artistic Director, All the King’s Fools

“Sarah made it possible for our actors to play music themselves ... and have the confidence to sing their own songs, which was amazing ... [they] still speak with pride of their achievements and how much they enjoyed working with Sarah.” Tony Holden, Founder, Misfits Theatre Company
